Renault presents first Supplier Quality Awards

Renault presented the Renault Supplier Quality Awards to three suppliers: Mahle, Siemens and Timken.

These awards will be presented every year to honor suppliers for their contributions to progress achieved by Renault in quality.

On February 10, 2006, Carlos Ghosn, Renault President and CEO, Odile Desforges, Senior Vice President, Purchasing and Chairman and Managing Director of Renault-Nissan Purchasing Organization (RNPO), and Yann Vincent, Senior Vice President, Quality, presented the first Renault Supplier Quality Awards at Renault’s Supplier Convention.

This initiative has three aims:
– honor suppliers for their contributions to progress made by Renault in quality since the
breakthrough that began in 2003;

– single out the best suppliers in terms of their commitments and results;
– enhance motivation for all suppliers.

Three of Renault’s parts suppliers received awards: Mahle for its performances in pistons, Siemens for body electronics and Timken for bearings. The three winners were rewarded for their results on the basis of three criteria: the quality of incoming parts at Renault factories, the ability to react and solve problems encountered in plants and their performance in customer satisfaction.

Mr. Vincent stressed that “the awards acknowledge their excellent results in incoming quality and their performance in customer satisfaction. The principle should be extended across the board to all suppliers. The excellence in quality we are targeting makes this a prerequisite.”

The Renault-Nissan Alliance aims to rank among the world’s top three automotive groups in quality. Renault has made this a clear strategic priority. Mr. Ghosn said at his presentation of the Renault Commitment 2009 plan that quality is the first commitment.
