The 2007 model year could be called stellar for side-impact protection systems from TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. (NYSE:TRW) – the global leader in active and passive safety systems. To date, 25 of the approximately 100 vehicles earning NHTSA’s five- star rating in side-impact crash tests feature TRW side or curtain airbag systems.
The NHTSA side-collision impact crash tests measure the performance of the vehicle and restraint system in the event of a side-impact collision. Five stars is the highest rating a vehicle can achieve and indicates the least chance of serious injury.
“TRW offers world-class systems and components to its customers that are designed to help enhance the total occupant protection package,” said Doug P. Campbell, vice president of occupant safety systems for TRW Automotive. “The fact that TRW supplies side-impact occupant protection systems to so many five-star rated models demonstrates our commitment to meeting our customers’ overall safety needs and in helping develop the advanced safety systems of the future.”
