Remy International, a global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of starters, alternators, and hybrid/electric motors and generators, announced today the signing of an agreement to supply its HVH250 motors to Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. Quantum will use the motors in its Ford F-150 PHEV program to convert the gasoline powered light-duty pickup trucks to plug-in hybrid operation.
Quantum will install the Remy HVH250 electric machine as the traction motor into a parallel hybrid system that delivers an all-electric range of 35 miles and a hybrid operational range of 400 miles.

The F-150 PHEV comes standard with 4WD, but can also be operated in 2WD mode. The vehicle has a payload of up to 900 lbs. and a towing capacity of 5,800 lbs., making it a good choice for truck fleets requiring the performance potential of an electric drive system combined with the utility value of a light-duty pickup truck.
