The 15th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2013) will be held in Shanghai New International Expo Center from 21st to 29th April, 2013. With the theme of “Innovation for Better Life”, the show is expected to prove China’s position as the most vibrant and promising automotive market in the world again.

Auto Shanghai 2013 is organized by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai Sub–Council and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Automotive Sub–Council. Both Shanghai International Exhibition Co.,Ltd. and Messe Muenchen International / IMAG Internationaler Messe- und Ausstellungsdienst GmbH are the co-organizers. The special supporter is China Machinery Industry Federation, and the supporter is the Society of Automotive Engineers of China (SAE China).
With “Innovation for a Better Life” as the theme, Auto Shanghai 2013 will not only testify the development of China’s automobile industry, but showcase a better lifestyle brought about by green technology. Innovation will lead to industry development, which creates a better life. Auto Shanghai will bear the dreams of global automotive players, burden the responsibility to promote the healthy development of China’s self-owned brands, as well as direct the auto culture and reflect the public’s aspiration for auto lifestyle.

Auto Shanghai 2013 will continually display the latest car models and technologies, and keep focusing on the latest hot topics now trending in the global automobile market. Auto Shanghai 2013 is expected to occupy all 17 indoor exhibition halls (13 halls used in 2011) and outdoor temporary exhibition halls, and the estimated show scale would reach 280,000 sq.m.. As most automobile makers prefer their new car release to be on the first day of the exhibition, the organizer will only arrange one media day (20th April). Subsequently the exhibition dates will be increased by one day, that is from 21st to 29th April 2013 (21st and 22nd for professional visitors, 23rd to 29th for the public), leaving visitors more ample time.

International Giants and New Brands Join Auto Shanghai 2013
Most global automakers yearn to attend this exhibition with larger scales and higher qualities. The strong lineup include U.S.’s top brands General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, German automakers Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and BMW, as well as French brands Peugeot and Citroen and Korean brands Hyundai and Kia. Japanese brands Toyota, Honda and Nissan also warmly participate into Auto Shanghai 2013.

Chinese Self-owned Brands Step on the International Stage
In recent years, more and more Chinese self-owned brands have entered into international markets and have been widely recognized for their strong performance. Top six of those: FAW, SAIC, DFM, CHANGAN, GAC and BAW will gather in Auto Shanghai 2013 again and each of them will bring their independently developed products or mass-produced cars. Other Chinese brands include Geely, BYD, Chery, Brilliance Auto, Great Wall Motor, JAC, Haima Auotmobile, Soueast Motor, and Lifan Auto. Noticeably, Jiangling Motors as well as Changfeng Group will showcase its models as an independent exhibitor.

Commercial Vehicles and Components Participate Actively
Both international and domestic commercial vehicles automakers will display their latest technology for commercial vehicles and buses at Auto Shanghai 2013. Additionally, Global auto components giants like BorgWarner, Eaton Group, Bosch, Continental AG, ThyssenKrupp, NSK, ZF and Faurecia Group will take part in the exhibition, ready to launch a promotion at Auto Shanghai 2013.
Upgraded Design Area is Powered by Domestic and Overseas Designers
Auto Shanghai 2013 will continually offering the car design area as the place to showcase concept and prototype vehicles. The upgraded car design area has been created by leading cars designers, including ICONA, Tongji Automotive Design and Research Institute along with other major car designers. These designers will have a chance to express their innovative ideas in manufacturing cars, including what the “soul” of car designing means for them and the trends in car culture, setting the direction of future development of the entire global automotive industry.

Series of On Site Events Establish Cooperative Platform
1. Press Day: On 20th April. Major exhibitors will hold press conferences. The agenda will be announced on the official website on time.
2. Summit Forum: On 19th April. The Organizers will host Auto Shanghai 2013 Summit Forum where the main topic of discussion will include the latest hot topics and focus on the prospects for the automobile industry in a changing world in a move to boost cooperation between domestic and foreign car markers.
3. Car Design Night: The 2013 Shanghai car design night will be held on April 18. The event will bring together innovative car designs presented by the world’s most widely respected car designers along with representatives from complete car makers.
4. Technology Sessions: The Technology Sessions at Auto Shanghai 2013 include seminars, workshops, special procurement fairs and trade fairs, covering manufacturing, after-sales handling and customization of cars.
5. Test Driving Experience: If condition permit, the organizers will allow visitors to test drive some of the new models.
