Automechanika Shanghai – Fringe programme explores hot issues in the automotive industry

Automechanika Shanghai 2011, to be held from 7 – 10 December at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, is attracting a record number of overseas buyer delegations to the show.

Altogether more than 60,000 professional buyers are expected at the show including delegations from Australia, Iran, Malaysia, Middle East and Poland as well as Chinese delegations from Anhui, Hunan, Fujian and Guangdong. Purchasing department representatives from BAIC, SAIC, BYD, Geely and JAC will also visit and conduct business meetings at the show. Show visitors will be able to visit more than 3,600 exhibitors who will be showcasing their latest products and technologies in 160,000 sqm of exhibition space.

Fringe programme explores hot issues in the automotive industry

This year’s fringe programme will explore the current issues ranging from remanufacturing and new energy to auto accessories, parts & components and repair & maintenance.

International Automotive Congress 2011 

Co-organised with Institut für Kraftfahrwesen Aachen University (ika), one of the world’s leading automotive industry institutions, the congress is an influential event. Confirmed speakers include professionals and analysts from automotive research institutions such as Dr Lutz Eckstein, President of Institut für Kraftfahrwesen Aachen University, Prof Li Keqiang from Tsinghua University and Prof Ni Jimin from Tongji Univeristy, and experts from automotive brands such as BMW and GM China.

Focusing on automotive industry technology trends, this annual congress will cover industry development and new technology, powertain and energy saving, automotive electronic and safety system as well as chassis and drive system.

Automotive Aftermarket Summit 2011 – Innovating an Industry Business Model
In this summit, the speakers will share the experiences and insights of automotive aftermarket industry development in China. The aim of the summit is to provide a professional platform for parts manufacturers, service suppliers and dealers to meet with repair and maintenance end-users to exchange the latest industry news.

The keynote topic will be “Aftermarket Transformation and Business Model Innovation”. Other topics will include capital transfer and development channels, opportunities and forecasts.

The 2nd New Energy Vehicle and Related Industries Development Forum
Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, Tongji-Zhida Electric Vehicle Development Simulation Laboratory and Shanghai Tongdu Management Consulting are presenting the New Energy Vehicle and Related Industries Development Forum. This will be an information exchange and demonstration platform for the new energy vehicle and related industries. Representatives from Tongji University, Academy of Shanghai Electric Power and Tongdu Consulting for Quality Management System will present topics relating to the electric vehicle operation and quality management. In addition, representatives from SAIC will lead a discussion about the electric vehicle business in China as well as sharing the company’s electric vehicle industry plan.

Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) International Forum in Shanghai 

APRA is an international organisation representing 1,000 companies involved in the remanufacturing industry and it is supporting the first ever Remanufacturing Pavilion at the show.

In addition, APRA is organising the Auto Parts Remanufacturing Industry Seminar during Automechanika Shanghai and the APRA International Forum one day before the show opens (6 December). The events will feature experts and government representatives from Australia, China, Germany, Japan, Korea and USA who will share their international remanufacturing experiences.

Presentations will address the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese and Asian remanufacturers, followed by discussions to explore common ground and solutions. The forum is expected to attract remanufactures, component parts manufacturers, core suppliers, recyclers, dismantlers, key users and buyers of remanufactured products.

Due to rising awareness concerning energy saving and environmental protection, remanufacturing has become the new trend in China’s automotive industry. This forum will give an insight into remanufacturing business development.

Other events related to new energy are The 2nd China Electric Vehicle Industry Award Presentation Ceremony and the China Industry Chain of Electric Vehicle Development Forum.

China Auto Accessories E-commerce Forum 2011 

This forum, co-organised by Shanghai Min Hang Electronic Commerce Association is expected to attract 300 attendees. It will explore the current e-commerce situation and trends, e-commerce business opportunities for automotive accessories manufacturers as well as Internet brand building. There will be two sessions discussing “The E-commerce Environment in the Automotive Accessories Industry” and “The Influence of Online Retail Automotive Accessories vs Traditional Retail Selling”. Suppliers, distribution channel representatives and manufacturers will be able to exchange their views on China’s auto accessories market trends and business strategies.

Breakthrough Performance Training for the Automotive Repair and Maintenance Service Industry Manager 

Co-organised with “Motor China”, this seminar aims to attract 4S shop managers, service and technical managers and industry professionals. Attendees will learn how to improve operational and management capacity, profit channels and models, and service quality.

Insured Cars Collision Repair: Business Rating and its Parts Supply Chain Seminar
This seminar will help attendees to better understand the repair and auto insurance industry. The speakers will talk about the current US industry and its future, as well as business ratings, quality tracking and China’s parts circulation network.

Automechanika Matchmaking Forum 

Matched suppliers will have a one-to-one meeting opportunity with 14 VIP buyers from China, France, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Turkey and the UAE to discuss potential business collaboration covering wide range of product categories including parts, repair and accessories.

Automechanika Shanghai is Asia’s “must attend” largest trade fair for automotive parts, equipment and services. Many well-known international brands including Affinia, Federal Mogual, Meguiar, Philips and Schaeffler, will use this opportunity to host show events to enhance their brand awareness.
