EnerDel to Join Panel of Lithium-Ion Battery Leaders at Global Environmental Conference

EnerDel, the advanced automotive battery systems division of alternative energy company Ener1, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: ENEI) , announced that it will participate in Globe 2008, a leading biennial environmental conference put on by the Globe Foundation that will for the first time dedicate a large segment to the future of the automotive industry and specifically the lithium-ion battery.

Globe 2008 will incorporate into the conference, which will gather thousands of corporate executives, government decision makers and leaders of the environmental industry in Vancouver, Canada March 12-14, an event titled Auto FutureTech Summit 2008. The Summit “will reflect the level of innovation occurring in the auto industry, which is engaged in a process of — nothing less — reinventing the automobile,” according to organizers.

EnerDel CEO Ulrik Grape will participate in a 90-minute “arm-chair” discussion together with Compact Power, Inc. of Troy, MI and A123 Systems of Watertown, MA in a session titled “Lithium Batteries: The Game-Changing Green Car Technology.” The discussion will be moderated by lithium-ion technology expert Ann Marie Sastry, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbour, MI.

“Recognition by the prestigious Globe Foundation of the centrality of the lithium-ion battery to the future of the automotive industry is yet another powerful sign that a new advanced automotive battery technology has emerged,” Mr. Grape commented. “Coming on the heels of the Geneva Auto Show last week, at which several major automotive companies announced plans to start using lithium-ion battery systems as early as 2009, it’s clear that what was once future is now present.”
