Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America Introduces Player/Screen Video Entertainment System

VESâ„¢ Will Debut on Select 2009 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan Minivans

Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Inc., has announced it is supplying a new Video Entertainment System (VES™) with two screens in the headliner, one in front of each row of rear seats. The new VES will be introduced as an option on the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.

The new VES features nine-inch next-generation screens, which are one inch larger than the previous model year, providing an enhanced viewing experience.

The system, which was developed jointly with Chrysler, provides another unique optional feature: a convenient rotating screen in the third row (March availability). If the vehicle is equipped with second row swivel seats and they are positioned facing the third row seats, the third row screen can rotate 180 degrees, enabling the passengers in the second row to watch the third row screen while the passengers in the third row can watch the second row screen.

“This in-vehicle entertainment system is the newest generation of player/screen systems on the market today and allows all passengers to enjoy the type of entertainment they want when they want it,” said Mike Antrim, director, audio/video communication, Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America.

The VES system has two different channels that can be operated independently. Each channel can appear on either screen and be heard on any headphone. The remote control can be used to select any media in the vehicle for either channel, including the DVD player, CD player, hard disc drive, AM/FM radio, Sirius satellite radio, Sirius TV, or auxiliary input for either channel.

Additionally, the VES has a provision to allow the front seat passenger to adjust the program for younger rear seat occupants.
