Richard Birch Promoted to General Manager of Dubai Autodrome

Birch takes over the helm at Dubai's premier motorsport facility

Dubai Autodrome management announced on 25 April 2013 the appointment of Richard Birch to the post of General Manager of the Dubai motorsport venue, in place of Hamish Brown who left the company at the end of April 2013.

Track owners Union Properties said in a statement, sent on behalf of Dubai Autodrome Chairman Ali Al Fardan, “Dubai Autodrome management is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Richard Clive Birch as the new General Manager.”

“Mr. Richard has been with the company since 2006 and brings a wealth of experience in the motorsport industry and has an excellent understanding of the operational and management requirements of running a successful Autodrome. We believe Mr. Richard is a perfect fit for this role and will add great value to the team with his expertise and knowledge. We wish him all the best!”

Brown, who is undertaking consulting and project work from his new base in France, has been with Dubai Autodrome since 2003 and as General Executive of the venue oversaw the start of the construction phase through to hosting the first international racing event in September of 2004. Since then he has been instrumental in establishing and growing the facility as a business, a motorsport venue and a leisure hub in the heart of Motorcity, the Union Properties development surrounding Dubai Autodrome.

Birch said, “It is an honour and a privilege to take up this position. But I must first acknowledge the massive role played by Hamish Brown over the past decade in making Dubai Autodrome what it is today, he has made it happen in more ways than one. We wish him well on his future endeavours.”

“Moving ahead I hope to be able to take our exciting project forward into the future and further establish Dubai Autodrome as a Dubai attraction which we can all be proud of and also helping fulfill the vision of the country’s leaders to promote the UAE as a premier global sporting destination,” added Birch.
